Kevin Beverly, Executive Vice President, Social and Scientific Systems, Inc. 

Kevin Beverly is the executive vice president of Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. Before joining Social & Scientific Systems, he worked in various technical and policy organizations, including Abt Associates, BAE Systems, Tracor Corporation, Computer Sciences Corporation, PSI International, the World Health Organization, and the National Library of Medicine. His strength and experience in leadership, operations, project management, and sales and marketing has helped the company’s recent growth. In addition to founding the Mildred Beverly Memorial Family Fund, which provides college scholarships for underprivileged youth in Dorchester County, Maryland, Mr. Beverly serves on the boards of the Professional Services Council (PSC), the Universities at Shady Grove, the Montgomery County Community Foundation, Passion for Learning, Corporate Volunteer Council of Montgomery County, Boys and Girls Club of Montgomery County, the Career Transition Center, Maryland Classical Youth Orchestra, and the Bethesda-Chevy Chase YMCA.  Mr. Beverly holds an undergraduate degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in library science and information services, both from the University of Maryland.

Rich Cohn, Group Vice President of Health Sciences Research, Social and Scientific Systems, Inc. 

Dr. Rich Cohn is a statistician and he serves as Group Vice President of Health Sciences Research at Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. Rich has more than 30 years of experience in statistical consulting applied to public health research, 25 of which have been in a government contracting environment. He oversees an 80-person organizational unit that includes health scientists and statisticians who conduct research studies and analyses in such fields as environmental health, respiratory health, and children’s health.

Rich has been recognized for statistical and methodological contributions and has published more than 35 journal articles on topics such as environmental allergen exposures and asthma, air quality modeling methods, and laboratory performance assessment techniques. Rich has directed a number of large-scale multidisciplinary research activities, and for the past 19 years has served in organizational leadership roles including strategic and business planning.

Rich was also instrumental in establishing the Research Triangle Environmental Health Collaborative, a nonprofit established to leverage the combined capabilities of the region’s government, commercial, and academic environmental health institutions, and to apply that expertise toward high-impact, cross-cutting issues in environmental health. Rich also serves on the board of Research Triangle High School, a public charter school providing innovative instructional methods for a diverse student population.

Previously, Rich served a five-year term at the University of North Carolina’s Collaborative Studies Coordinating Center within the School of Public Health. He holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Virginia, a master’s in statistics from Virginia Tech, and a doctorate in statistics from North Carolina State University.

Gary Mendelson   Gary Mendelson, Major Account Manager, Rally Software

Gary D. Mendelson is a 30+ year veteran in the technology sector. He started his career working for Digital Equipment Corporation and quickly recognized that while customers bought his hardware willingly, they did so to solve business problems and that is where his passion began for software and providing outstanding customer service.

Gary has a wide and deep level of experience within core industries such as financial services, banking, insurance, telecommunications, and regulated utilities which he has provided solutions to for many years. He describes himself as unique balance of finding new customers via creative means (sales hunter) with analytical business case development skills plus outstanding customer references.

For the last 12 years, Gary has been helping his customers bring new products to market faster with higher quality and at a reduced cost.

His business passions include: building better software, faster, and more predictably, providing un-paralleled levels of customer service, helping quantify and qualify the business and financial value they will get from an investment in his company.

His personal passions include his wife of 34 years and his two children, Sara Rose and Steven, bicycling, home renovation and being a savvy consumer.

Alicia Gilleskie   Alicia Gilleskie, Partner, Smith Anderson

Alicia Gilleskie is a partner with Smith Anderson, the largest law firm based in Raleigh. She chairs the firm’s Data Use, Privacy and Security practice group, and focuses her practice on regulatory and transactional matters involving technology and data privacy law, and licensing and outsourcing transactions.

Alicia advises companies on all aspects of data and information technology, including policies and procedures, audits, data breach response and investigations.  She also frequently handles strategic collaborations that involve information technology, software-as-a-service, cloud computing and other technology platforms that are used to manage, host and share sensitive information. Her clients range from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies in the software, information technology, software-as-a-service, life sciences, healthcare, Internet, retail, and data hosting industries.

Alicia is a member of the Board of Advisors for the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA). She also volunteers as a member of the Board of Directors for Communities for Sustainable Abodes (CASA).

Mr. Kalmbach is a successful serial software entrepreneur who has founded, managed, funded, and exited several software ventures including Virtus Corporation (CEO & Co-founder; 3D modeling and gaming; acquired in 1996 by Ubisoft Entertainment S.A.), Q+E Software Inc. (VP Marketing; database access; acquired in 1994 by Intersolv Inc.), ProMedex Inc. (CTO & Co-founder; web-based disease management; acquired in 2000 by InLight Inc.), and Coactive Systems Corporation (CEO & Founder; cloud-based contact center software; acquired in 2003 by First Consulting Group Inc.). Mark Gemberling   Mark Gemberling, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Entigral Systems, Inc.

Mr. Gemberling is an experienced sales and marketing executive with over 25 years of experience in the technology industries. He has provided transformational leadership in the areas of strategic and tactical planning, sales process improvement, and organizational development. He comes to us from Belden where he was the Vice President of Sales, Americas. While there, he developed and implemented strategic plans to generate demand for Belden’s products to end users through direct sales, contractors, consultants, and distributors. Prior to Belden, he held several key leadership roles at GE Healthcare including being the National Sales Manager for Systems &Wireless where he leveraged technology and accessibility of data to improve patient and clinical workflow. He holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University.

David Houghton   David A. Houghton, Director, Bright Wolf

David has over 25 years experience working at the intersection of technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and performance improvement in a variety of strategic planning, management, operations, business development and marketing posts. Mr. Houghton currently leads the sales and business development activities as Director for Bright Wolf, a software company developing and deploying IoT solutions. Before joining Bright Wolf, Mr. Houghton was the CEO of Veedims, leading the commercialization of a novel technology targeting the real time M2M automation space. The prior two years were spent consulting to Verizon, shaping and executing their healthcare vertical and identity solution strategies. Before Verizon, Mr. Houghton managed and led the sale of Systems Pathology Company, an innovative software start up to Charles River Laboratories. As a Vice President for SAIC, David initiated and led the Commercial Life Sciences Practice for 9 years. Mr. Houghton was Vice President, Business Development for Axios Data Analysis Systems Corp – a high performance software analytics firm targeting the Healthcare marketplace. Mr. Houghton held senior positions at Pfizer Inc, in the Global Development Organization where he was responsible for strategic planning and operations. His field sales and systems experience spans 13 years and includes assignments with Sun Microsystems and Unisys Corporation. Mr. Houghton holds a BA in Economics from Villanova University.
