Allison Wood   Allison Wood, CEO and Co-Founder, LCMS Plus

Allison brings a deep marketing and communication background to her leadership role at LCMS Plus. As a copywriter for Grey Advertising (a Top Ten global ad agency), she created print, radio, television, online and collateral advertising for clients across multiple industries.

As owner of her own executive communications firm, Allison offered speechwriting and presentation coaching to leaders in higher education, technology and the non-profit sector, as well as consulting on strategic marketing, branding and editorial projects for numerous startup companies.

Allison’s communication expertise, her ability to assemble smart, creative teams and her passion for problem-solving provide the framework of her contributions to LCMS Plus. She currently directs all branding, public relations, marketing, social media and customer relationship management initiatives for the company.

Allison has twice been invited to appear as a guest speaker for UNC’s Commercial Venture Creation class. She is a regular contributor to the “Start Something” blog for CED and was selected to pitch LCMS Plus to investors at the 2013 Tech Venture Conference in Raleigh.

Over the years, Allison has taken on roles as diverse as PTA president, cabaret singer, president and board member of a local congregation, freelance editor, and chief cook and bottlewasher for her family of five. All that life experience has combined to serve her in lovely and unexpected ways in her role as CEO and co-founder of LCMS Plus.

Doug Herald   Doug Herald, President and CEO, Time & Eternity

Doug Herald earned his Bachelor’s from Blue Ridge Institute in North Carolina with additional credits experience in the Food Industry; first working with Sara Lee Foods, then The Wornick Co. and Zwanenburg Food Group USA. He has held positions of increasing responsibility in Warehouse, Maintenance, and Operations. He began his career at Wornick in December, 1994 as a Warehouse Manager. In April, 2001 he moved into Operations as the Project Manager of the Gerber line start-up and then to Production Manager until 2006 when he left Wornick for a short time to be the Plant Manager for the Zwanenburg Food Group USA. Doug returned to Wornick in February, 2007 as Director of Maintenance & Engineering. In November, 2008, while still maintaining his current responsibilities, he also became Director of Manufacturing. Finally, s Maintenance and Engineering. In November of 2013, after successfully incorporating a new Lean Manufacturing Operating System at Wornick Foods, Doug was promoted to Vice President of Manufacturing at Wornick Foods.

Throughout this career Doug has worked hard to make a difference in the lives of the people that he has worked for with a servant leadership style that drives deep employee engagement and continuous improvements. Doug has also recently joined the Board of Advisors for SeneGence International. Over the last 7 years Doug has invested heavily in personal and emotional research to drive personal improvement and now looks forward to sharing with people what he has learned. With a tremendous understanding of the completeness of life in every facet, Doug has a passion to teach the completeness of life and leadership through what he calls, “Touching People for Time and Eternity.”

Doug was born and raised on a family owned farm in Grant’s Lick, Kentucky where, with his brother and sister, he was raised by his grandparents Charles and Edith Peters while his wonderful mom, Alvena, went to work to financially support the family. After high school he went to work for Sara Lee Foods. Doug has been married to Tammie (Sebastian) Herald for 26 plus years and they have three daughters who all currently are attending college. ​

Doug recently released his first book entitled, In Hope for Time and Eternity. This book takes the reader on the journey of Doug’s life as he rises to success and finds emptiness at the top of the ladder causing him to look inward and discovering a true source of joy. It’s a must read.

Mark Boggs has worked for Verizon Wireless since 1999 serving as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, and Associate Director. In this capacity, Mark has been responsible for designing and implementing cellular data solutions for customers in the government and enterprise sectors. Mark currently manages a team of Advanced Solutions Architects who support government and enterprise customer across North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Prior to entering the wireless industry, Mark was an engineer for both Fortune 20 and Fortune 100 companies based in the Charlotte, NC area.

Mark Scheuerlein has been working in the cellular industry for over 8 years, first for Alltel and now for Verizon Wireless. As an Advanced Solutions Architect, he helps businesses choose products and solutions that will solve their business problems. Previously, Mark was a Senior IT Systems Engineer for Capital Broadcasting and has a background in IT, marketing, and advertising.

 

Todd Young   Todd Young, Advanced Solutions Architect, Verizon Wireless

Todd Young has been working at Verizon Wireless for over two years as an Advanced Solutions Architect. His focus is assisting businesses in Eastern North Carolina realize new levels of productivity and efficiency using machine to machine connections. Prior to his work at Verizon Wireless, Todd was a CIO for a SC state agency. He also has an extensive background in GIS, Project Management, and Software Development.

Emily Baranello is a Senior Director in SAS’ Education Practice. She leads teams that work to expand the use of SAS for administrative data-driven decision making, academic research, and teaching in both the K-12 and higher education markets throughout the United States.

Prior to taking this position, Emily led sales and outreach efforts for SAS in K-12, including promotion of SAS’ web-based curriculum resources, enterprise decision support solutions and more.

Emily’s career has been spent almost entirely in working with the public sector, with a large portion dedicated to working within the Education market. This area of interest may be enhanced by her personal relationships; since Emily comes from a family of educators…her mother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law and husband are all teachers.

Emily is a graduate of North Carolina’s Elon University with a degree in psychology.

Steve S. Rao, a native of Charleston, West Virginia, serves as an At-Large Councilman for the Town of Morrisville. Elected in 2011 and re-elected in 2013, Councilman Rao is the first and currently only Indian American elected official in Wake County and the Triangle region. He serves as a Delegate to the Triangle J Council of Governments, Co- Chairs the Smart Growth Committee, and serves on the CORE and Cary Joint Task Force Committees. He also serves as an ex-officio member of the Morrisville Innovation Foundtation.

A ten year resident of Morrisville, he resides with his wife, Komal Parekh, and their two children, Sonia and Rayan. Steve earned his B.A. in political science from Emory University, where he was a collegiate tennis player, and his J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law. He is also a 2009 graduate of the prestigious Institute of Political Leadership Fellows Program.

Today, Steve is the Business Development Manager at Alphanumeric Systems, were he manages partnerships for the company, along with driving revenue growth and helping companies reduce costs through innovative IT solutions.

Patrick started coding software at the age of 10 and has been building software professionally for nearly 20 years. He spent 15 years in the manufacturing sector, including 10 years in the medical device industry. His ability to align business needs to the appropriate technology has proven successful across a wide range of projects from sales force automation to clinical research technology.

Patrick, along with his wife Alison, an accomplished pastry chef, and their kids William and Fiona relocated to Winston-Salem in 2007 to be closer to the outdoor opportunities that North Carolina has to offer. Shortly after the move, Patrick became a customer of Small Footprint and was so impressed by the effectiveness of the blended local and offshore model for building great software that he bought into the company in 2009. Since that time, Small Footprint has continued to leverage and refine this unique approach successfully—resulting in a greater than 50 percent growth each year.

As the demand for software development services in North Carolina has grown, Patrick has become increasingly involved with local educators to raise awareness of the need for software development professionals in the Carolinas. He is actively involved with organizations including North Carolina New Schools and the Yadkin Valley Career Academy, exposing educators, parents, and students to possibilities within the industry and preaching the gospel that everyone can benefit from a basic understanding of the role that software development plays in our personal and professional lives.

Chris Lamb co-founded Device Solutions 10 years ago.  During the past 10 years, Device Solutions has grown into a 30 person team providing embedded hardware and software development services, certification consulting, customized device testing and unique M2M products.  Prior to co-founding Device Solutions, Chris was with Ericsson & Sony-Ericsson and has an SB in Electrical Engineering from MIT and an MSEE from NC State.

The Wireless Research Center’s first show featured Ann Revell-Pechar, as host and  Gerry Hayes, President/Founder and Larry Steffann, General Manager, of the Wireless Research Center of North Carolina, as co-hosts. Ann welcomed into the studio Mayor Vivian Jones, and Marla Akridge.  The conversation was centered on economic development and the positive impact the Wireless Center is making on the area.

Vivian Jones is the four-term Mayor of the Town of Wake Forest, NC. Prior to serving her first term, Jones found great success in the catering and restaurant industry. She grew up in Red Cross (Randolf County), NC, and attended the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (now UNC-Greensboro).

Marla Akridge, Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce

Marla is President of the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce.  She attended Ohio State University and Auburn University, where she received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, respectively.  Upon graduation, Akridge moved to Jackson, Tenn., where she spent several years working at a research facility at the University of Tennessee.  Over the next few years, Akridge taught continuing education computer courses at various community colleges in Tennessee.  After serving on the board of directors at the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce in Tennessee, Akridge went to Prattville, Ala., where she served as president of the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce for five years.  Akridge then moved north to assume the president’s role at the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce in Ohio.
